San Diego LGBT Pride annually recognizes individuals and organizations for their activism and notable contributions made to the LGBT community during the preceding year or for extended periods of time. This year’s awardees will be honored at Pride’s Spirit of Stonewall Rally, scheduled for 6 p.m., July 16, at Marston Point in Balboa Park.

The legendary Devo will take to the Cox Communications main stage at next month’s San Diego Pride Festival, with a headline performance scheduled for 7:15 p.m., Sunday, July 18. The two-day festival will be held at Marston Point in Balboa Park on July 17 and 18.

A town hall meeting hosted by San Diego LGBT Pride will be held at 6:30 p.m., Feb. 22, in the auditorium of the San Diego LGBT Community Center, 3909 Centre St.

The reconstituted Board of Directors of SD LGBT Pride met Wednesday, Jan. 27. The first order of business was to accept the resignations of board members Philip Princetta, Co-chair and Mike Karim, Treasurer. The new board members are fully committed to transparency and will honor the duties and responsibilities of the organization and continue the mission of San Diego Pride.

San Diego Pride will roll out the welcome mat for hundreds of Pride organizers, board members and staffers during the Consolidated Association of Pride Incorporated's (CAPI) annual conference. The event is scheduled for January 21-24, at the Sheraton Mission Valley. It will feature a roster of local and regional speakers, along with workshops, discussion panels and training sessions aimed at helping Pride organizations throughout the Western United States and Mexico enhance their yearly celebrations.

San Diego Pride board of directors announce next year's theme, "One World, One Heart, One Pride." The theme reflects an ongoing movement that calls for unity and compassion in the quest of achieving full equal rights for all people.

San Diego Pride recently honored Senator Christine Kehoe with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her vital role in helping to rebuild the organization in the late 1980s, after it experienced a series of "ups and downs" in previous years. Kehoe is the fifth recipient of the prestigious award.

Artists, graphic designers, and other creative people are encouraged to submit designs for San Diego Lesbian, Gay Bisexual, Transgender Pride's annual T-shirt logo contest. Designs must incorporate all the elements of the Pride logo (available on www.sandiegopride.org under "T-shirt contest"), as well as the theme and dates of Pride weekend: ("One World, One Heart, One Pride," July 17-18, 2010.)

San Diego Pride is now accepting applications for its 2010 Youth Organizer paid internship position. The internship for a high school senior is part of Pride's resolution to further involve LGBT youth into the long-term planning of Pride's annual celebrations and year-round programs.

San Diego Pride recently honored 10 individuals as "volunteers of the year" for their outstanding leadership service to various programs, including the Equality Torch Relay, Rainbow Flag Project and the Pride Green program, as well as the production of Pride's annual weekend celebration held in July.

San Diego Pride will have gifted $93,633 by the first week in December to a plethora of LGBT community-supportive organizations. The funding has been made possible through a variety of channels that include proceeds generated from the annual Pride festival and other official Pride events, plus programs such as Friends of Pride, the Pride Ambassador Program, the Milk Money Holiday Campaign, partnerships and business support.

Pride will present Amancio: Two Faces on a Tombstone, on Jan. 21. The documentary which focuses on life-and-death issues still facing sexual minorities, has captivated audiences at LGBT film festivals around the world since it premiered in May. Directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Tom Murray and produced by Bruce Presley of Downtown Loft Studio, Amancio trails the compelling story of one man's journey to avenge the murder of a young gay man.
